Fire hits auto parts shop in Parañaque, P1.5M in property destroyed

A fire broke out at an auto parts shop in Parañaque early Sunday morning, Feb. 15, destroying an estimated P1.5 million worth of property.
SFO3 Giovanni Corbes, arson investigator of the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP)–Parañaque, said the fire razed a two-storey commercial building located along Quirino Avenue in Barangay San Dionisio.
Corbes said the fire started at the mezzanine area of the building, which is owned by James Tan Li and occupied by Fernando Velasquez.
The incident was reported at 2:11 a.m., with the first alarm raised at 2:15 a.m. The fire was declared under control at around 4:25 a.m.
The BFP said 14 fire trucks responded to the scene to contain the blaze.
The fire destroyed auto spare parts, accessories, lubricants, oil, and other merchandise inside the shop.
Authorities said the cause of the fire has yet to be determined and remains under investigation.
