The Manila city government received a significant boost to its peace and order efforts after Chiang Kai Shek College donated 20 Yamaha NMAX motorcycles to strengthen the mobility of local police officers, particularly in responding swiftly to crimes across the city.
Mayor Francisco “Isko Moreno” Domagoso welcomed the donation, noting that the additional motorcycles will enhance the capability of the Manila Police District to patrol communities and pursue suspects more efficiently.
The donation was made by Chiang Kai Shek College, a well-known private Filipino-Chinese educational institution in Sta. Cruz, Manila, was founded in 1939 and recognized for its strong academic programs and active civic involvement, including initiatives that support community development and public service.
City officials said the motorcycles will play a crucial role in improving police visibility and response time, especially in densely populated areas and narrow streets where quick maneuverability is essential.
The donation coincided with the Lunar New Year celebration, highlighting the college’s continued partnership with the city government in promoting safety and welfare among Manila residents.
Domagoso expressed gratitude to the institution for its support, emphasizing that collaboration between the local government and private sector remains vital in ensuring the safety and security of Manileños.
“Malaking bagay po ito sa pagpapatibay ng peace and order sa ating lungsod. Kapag nagkakaisa ang pamahalaan at pribadong sektor, mas marami tayong magagawa para sa Maynila (This is a significant contribution to strengthening peace and order in our city. When the government and the private sector work together, we can accomplish more for Manila),” the mayor said.
He added that the city government remains committed to strengthening law enforcement capabilities to better serve and protect the public.
