Two motorcycle riders were injured after one of them overtook while traveling along Velasquez Street in Barangay San Juan, Taytay, Rizal on Friday night, Feb. 14.
The Taytay Municipal Police Station (Taytay MPS) said the incident occurred around 7:30 p.m.
It said that both motorcycles were traveling along Velasquez Street, with the rider identified as “Jenesis” coming from Angono, Rizal, and heading toward Floodway, while the other rider, “Lawrence,” was traveling in the opposite direction.
Upon reaching the scene, a certain L300 van and the vehicle driven by Lawrence, which was following behind the van, overtook in the opposite lane due to traffic congestion in their lane.
Meanwhile, Jenesis, riding his motorcycle, was approaching the opposite lane, prompting the L300 van to return to its lane. However, Lawrence failed to return to his lane, resulting in a head-on collision with Jenesis’ motorcycle.
Due to the impact, both drivers were thrown onto the pavement and sustained injuries. They were immediately rushed to the hospital for medical treatment.
Authorities said that the incident was temporarily settled.
