You might not guess it from his image, but actor Tony Labrusca turns to prayer and faith whenever life gets tough.
"I'm very religious, but hindi lang halata (it's not obvious). But God says, 'Don't worry. Tony, 30, mentioned that he chooses not to retaliate, despite being frequently criticized on social media.
"If you guys want to keep bashing me and talking about me, I'm not gonna fight back. That's your prerogative. It's out of my control. So I feel like there's nothing I can do.
"If I make mistakes, I try to learn from them. I don't think I'm a bad person. And I think God will protect me," said Tony at the opening of Owen Wellness Clinic in Quezon City recently. Tony was introduced by the clinic's founder, Dr. Jerome Pareja, as one of its celebrity ambassadors.
Tony also commented on the reactions, describing himself as rebellious and wild. He admitted he's not perfect, but said he doesn't stress about it every day.
“I find myself to be very rebellious. I believe that when it comes to mga intriga (controversies), I deal with them subconsciously, burying them deep within my mind. So I do not acknowledge it. It isn't something I stress about every day.
"I’m not perfect. I know I’m in showbiz, but this is me and my personality. And I’m sorry if that doesn’t check the box of being a perfect celebrity. I’m really sorry.
“I live my life. I have different ideals. And I know it differs from other celebrities who fit the box of being a perfect celebrity na hindi makabasag-pinggan, who say all the right things," the actor said.
Tony admitted he isn't perfect, but said he always strives to do the right thing. He apologized if his actions ever came across as careless.
“Maybe I am a bit careless. It’s just that I have one life to live. I am human too. And I wanna enjoy life the way I feel I deserve to. If that’s what gets me into trouble, I’m sorry. But I don’t want to live life knowing I didn’t get to experience these things.
“I live my life trying to be a good person. I apologize if my actions are misinterpreted as being a little too careless.
“I am a free spirit. I can be wild at times. And if I'm not causing harm to anyone, I believe I have every right to do it," Tony added.
Tony said he doesn't have a date for Valentine's Day. "I'm gonna buy myself flowers. Why not? I don't have a Valentine's date. Life is still worth celebrating."
Asked to share any love advice, Tony said, "I don't think I'm the right person to ask. But let's enjoy life. 2026 has just started."
