The Quezon City government has expanded its road safety program through a strengthened partnership with the Automobile Association of the Philippines (AAP) under the nationwide Stay Bright Road Safety Campaign.
According to the city’s Public Information Office, the collaboration focuses on educating students and communities about responsible road use, particularly in high-risk areas identified by the Quezon City Barangay and Community Relations Department.
Mayor Joy Belmonte signed a Memorandum of Understanding with AAP on Jan. 23 to formalize and widen the partnership.
The initiative also involves the Quezon City Schools Division Office and the city’s Education Affairs Unit.
Belmonte said promoting road safety education at an early age forms part of the city’s long-term development plans.
“Road safety education is a critical investment in the future of our city,” the mayor said.
“By teaching our children and communities to be responsible road users early on, we are protecting lives and building safer, more disciplined communities,” she added.
Since 2024, more than 19,000 students and over 400 community members have participated in AAP-led road safety sessions.
These include interactive lectures and demonstrations on pedestrian safety, understanding road signs, proper street crossing, and improving road visibility.
The program has also been extended to barangay communities, where enforcers, public safety officers, drivers, and staff members received practical road safety training.
The local government said the initiative aims to make road safety awareness part of everyday life in the city.
