Justin Brownlee leads new cast of imports for PBA Commissioner's Cup

Barangay Ginebra resident import Justin Brownlee once again leads the cast of imports for the upcoming PBA Season 50 Commissioner’s Cup.
The veteran Kings reinforcement, who is going for another tour of duty exactly 10 years since he first set foot in the PBA, will have fresh faces to challenge him in the mid-season conference where teams enjoy unlimited height rule for their imports.
Among the early names locked in for the Commissioner’s Cup are Brownlee’s former Pelita Jaya teammates James Dickey for Phoenix and 2015 NBA second round draft pick Cady Lalanne for NLEX.
Dickey, a 6-foot-10 center, is bringing a wealth of international experience for the rebuilding Fuel Masters under new head coach Charles Tiu, having played in Hungary, Germany, Israel, France, Ukraine, and Indonesia.
Lalanne, on the other hand, spent one season in NBA G League before taking his act in Puerto Rico, China, Italy, Turkey, Spain, South Korea, Kuwait, and Taiwan.
The tallest so far in this conference’s batch is Terrafirma reinforcement Mubashar Ali. Standing at 7-foot, the 28-year-old is expected to be a force for the Dyip especially after his professional stints in Turkey, Finland and Georgia.
Rain or Shine, meanwhile, has tapped the services of 6-foot-9 center Jaylen Johnson, who last suited up in South Korea where he played with Gilas Pilipinas stalwart Kevin Quiambao.
Meralco, on the other hand, is going with familiarity as it retained its East Asia Super League import Ismael Romero. The hulking 6-foot-9 center has been playing for the Bolts in the regional league and is already accustomed to the system and teammates.
The Puerto Rican player, however, was in hot water the past week after getting into an altercation in the Dubai International Basketball Invitational where he kicked Zamboanga forward and former PBA player Nick Demusis.
Magnolia, for its part, signed 6-foot-9 power forward Terrell Brown-Soares. He went undrafted in the NBA but played professionally in the Czech Republic, Mexico and Poland.
Defending champion TNT has yet to name its import for the mid-season conference although team manager Jojo Lastimosa confirmed that there has been talks between the Tropang 5G and the camp of former NBA player and 7-foot-3 center Bol Bol.
TNT was initially set on tapping  Rondae Hollis-Jefferson for import-laden conferences this season but the resident import suffered a torn achilles injury while playing for Meralco in the EASL.
