Former Miss PH-Earth 2013 runner-up shot dead in Isabela on Friday the 13th
SAN MANUEL, Isabela – A former Miss Philippines-Earth 2013 runner-up and teacher was gunned down in front of her home in Barangay Cabaritan here on Friday night, Feb. 13.
Police identified the victim as Lullete Jane Ramillo de Guzman.
Investigation said that the victim had just arrived in her house onboard a Sports Utility Vehicle from school with her children and father when a man appeared and shot her.
The gunman fled with his companion on a motorcycle. De Guzman was taken to a hospital where she was declared dead.
Police are conducting follow-up investigation and pursuit operations.
De Guzman’s family appealed for justice.
She finished runner-up in the 2013 Miss Philippines-Earth pageant and received special awards Miss Global International and Miss Genuine Person.
She had a Bachelor of Secondary Education degree from the University of Perpetual Help System Laguna-Isabela campus.
In a social media post, her partner Clifford said she had just picked up their child from school and managed to shield their three children during the attack.
He said he could not accept the sudden loss of his wife who he had spoken to just minutes before the incident. Clifford was in Manila attending a training when he was informed about the shooting. He immediately returned home.
He described his wife as a brave woman who stood up for parents who were afraid to speak out, fought against bullying at school, and faced authorities to defend the truth. Clifford added that although her voice was silenced, her courage would not be forgotten.
