Forgive the hyperbole, but for the three days of ALT Art 2026, Halls 9 and 10 of the SMX Convention Center have been transformed into a house of reverence for contemporary Filipino artists—a hymn to the high quality of work they can create—and serve as a repository for the testimonials of love and appreciation that art enthusiasts, gallery owners, patrons, and guests shower on these artists. Thanks to the presence and foresight of the galleries that form the nucleus of ALT Art, an elevated standard of artistry and innovation is guaranteed.
Run, don’t just walk, to the SMX Convention Center to understand my unabashed prayer of thanks for this art fair, for it knows how to optimize space and offer guests a relaxed and sensible journey through the pieces on display, whether hanging on a wall or presented in three-dimensional glory. My absolute favorite is Linds Lee’s “Weight of the Day,” but I’m sure you’ll have your own favorite—and be happy you dropped by.
My special thanks to the artist Billie Jean Chuaunsu for being my patron at the preview and vernissage. Her works can be seen in the West Gallery section. I also loved the family support that artist Nicole Coson received from the likes of her uncle Hans and her aunts Carol and Debbie.
Head to ALT Art and feel blessed!
