Sulu Vice Gov. Abdusakur Tan wants vessels of Aleson Shipping Lines banned in Sulu province and the license of the shipping firm revoked following the tragic sinking of the MV Trisha Kerstin 3 in the sea of Baluk Baluk Island in Basilan province last Jan. 26.
Tan, during a hearing at the House of Representatives on Thursday, Feb. 12, presided over by Committee on Transportation Chairman Quezon City Rep. Franz Pumaren, to determine accountability and responsibility for the sinking of the passenger vessel, said that it is not enough that operations of the shipping line are suspended.
The vice governor said their license should be revoked as the incident had been attended by “negligence.”
He said that if the shipping firm's license will not be revoked, he wants a ban on the operation of the shipping line to Sulu because indigents would be forced to board the ship and exposed to danger.
