Mayor Jeannie Sandoval led the ceremony, joined by City Administrator Dr. Alexander Rosete, OsMal Chief Dr. Jennifer Amolo-Lim, and other city officials and health partners.
The project involves constructing a six-story building that will increase the hospital’s capacity and upgrade its facilities.
It forms part of Sandoval’s Lucky 9-Point Agenda, particularly the program focused on strengthening free hospital services.
Sandoval said the project marks a major step in improving the city’s public health system.
The hospital’s bed capacity will increase, and new facilities will provide quality care to residents in need. This is part of our goal of building a safer, healthier, better, and more progressive Malabon),” Sandoval added.
The city government said the extension will add 16 beds and introduce critical care units, including an Intensive Care Unit (ICU) and a Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU).
The facility will also include a CT scan unit, tertiary laboratory services, dental and rehabilitation services, and fully equipped operating rooms for major and minor surgeries.
Additional features include private wards for male and female patients, an isolation room, nurse stations, and support facilities such as a central supply room, research room, archives room, and doctors’ clinics.
Dr. Amolo-Lim said the expansion aims to help OsMal qualify as a Department of Health-accredited Level 2 hospital, allowing residents to access advanced diagnostics and specialized care within the city.
“As we approach the 10th Founding Anniversary of Ospital ng Malabon, we find ourselves at a threshold. For a decade, OsMal has served as a Level 1 beacon of care. But a rising city—one that embraces the Malabon Ahon spirit—cannot be satisfied with the status quo when lives are on the line,” she said.
Also present during the ceremony were former Rep. Ricky Sandoval, representatives from the Department of Health, the Philippine Red Cross–Malabon Chapter, the Philippine Medical Association Malabon-Navotas Medical Society, and San Lorenzo Ruiz General Hospital.
Representatives from the Malabon Hospital and Medical Center, Tondo Medical Center, Valenzuela Medical Center, and members of the City Health Office and OsMal staff also graced the event.
The city government said the project reflects its continued investment in healthcare infrastructure to ensure accessible and quality medical services for residents.
