The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) launched a series of programs to protect children from hazardous work and support their families as part of an awareness campaign to address the root causes of child labor.
DOLE regional offices conducted information caravans, delivered aid, and provided livelihood packages to families of profiled child laborers throughout January to mark the beginning of 2026.
In the Cordillera Administrative Region, the agency reinforced its Child Labor Prevention and Elimination Program (CLPEP) through school-based sessions in Mountain Province and Ifugao.
Students from Grade 8 to senior high were oriented on child labor laws and government programs to keep children in school.
Parents and children at risk also joined a Business Counseling Program in Bontoc, Mountain Province where they received training in financial literacy and DOLE livelihood initiatives.
The DOLE also expanded economic interventions to address poverty, a primary driver of child labor.
In Cabuyao City, DOLE-CALABARZON partnered with FIF Foundation Inc. to implement Project Angel Tree where government personnel distribute food packs to families of profiled child laborers.
A similar outreach program in Kiangan, Ifugao provided 50 students with school kits including uniforms, bags, and tumblers.
Through the DOLE Integrated Livelihood and Emergency Employment Program (DILEEP), two families in Bokod, Benguet were also assisted under the Kabuhayan Program with mini-bakery and coffee production projects.
In Davao City, DOLE Davao Region granted P30,000 livelihood starter kits to 68 parents of profiled child laborers.
The region also conducted Tulong Panghanapbuhay sa Ating Disadvantaged Workers (TUPAD) payouts to 200 parents and guardians following 10 days of community-based work.
