Alliance Française de Manille invites members to a blind date with a book this Valentine's
This Valentine’s season, Alliance Française de Manille (AFM) offers its members a chance to discover love in unexpected places—between the pages of a book. From February 10 to 14, AFM’s library will host Blind Date with a Book, a whimsical event where readers let fate decide their next literary adventure.
Borrowing Period is from February 10 to 14 and Return Period will be from March 10 to 14. This is Exclusive to AFM Members and no reservations due to limited availability, so you have to drop by the library to make your pick!
To set the mood, AFM has even curated a special Spotify playlist: Blind Date with a Book 2026.
Books are carefully wrapped so you won’t judge them by their covers. Each comes with a profile card featuring a few keywords to spark curiosity. After reading, you’ll return the book along with a “Rate Your Date” card—because every blind date deserves feedback.
There are three categories at the moment namely Beginner/Children's Books are Perfect for young readers; Intermediate Books (Written for children (A2) and teens (B1+) which are Fun and accessible and Advanced that Includes novels and poetry. Genres are revealed on the profile card, but the authors remain a mystery until you’ve met your match.
This event is more than borrowing a book—it’s about embracing serendipity. You might discover a new favorite genre, stumble upon a hidden gem, or simply enjoy the thrill of reading without expectations.
So, if you’re searching for a Valentine’s date, let destiny decide. Who knows? Your perfect match might just be waiting on the library shelf.
