A truly versatile collection embraces genderless appeal
Uniqlo: C quietly blurs fashion boundaries with refined everyday pieces
By John Legaspi
If there is one piece of shopping advice I always give to others who ask, it’s this: “Try shopping in the opposite gender’s section.” For me, doing so allows one to explore different styles and proportions and, overall, enjoy a unique and fun shopping experience. While it is not a new concept, many still tend to shy away from it for a number of reasons.

In recent years, however, fashion brands have taken notice of the gender-neutral shift in dressing and have been releasing more unisex drops. They showcase pieces that could easily fit into the closets of both men and women. This cultural shift in clothing offers practicality and creative freedom for designers and wearers alike. Sometimes, the items speak for themselves. While they aren’t explicitly marked as part of a gender-neutral collection, the way they are designed simply blurs the line between womenswear and menswear.
That is evident in Uniqlo’s newest line, led by its creative director, British fashion designer Clare Waight Keller. For spring-summer 2026, Uniqlo: C presents the “Refined for the Everyday” collection, with pieces inspired by the pace of city living. This is something the brand has championed for a long time: clothes that move well with the body and can easily transition from day to night. Having a designer’s touch is a bonus, enabling shoppers to get designer-led items that are still accessible.

During an exclusive preview and try-on of the collection, what stood out to me was how these pieces caught the attention of both male and female guests simply by hanging on the racks. “That’s the power of genderless appeal,” said Kale Alcala Capati of Uniqlo Philippines’ marketing and public relations team. And I must agree—it was striking to see how easily people gravitated toward the same garments regardless of which section they typically shop in.
The collection features a variety of pieces, from full-zip cardigans, tailored jackets, and long coats to wide-leg pants, culottes, dainty skirts, and pleated trousers. Staples such as denim, sweaters, and oversized shirts are also part of the lineup. These pieces allow for easy layering thanks to their light, comfortable, breathable materials: satin, Milano-rib wool, cotton, and viscose knitwear.

The collection’s palette is ideal for anyone looking to experiment with color in their wardrobe. Powder lilac, sky blue, and soft neutrals serve as a base, with vivid red acting as an accent.
Apart from apparel, the collection puts a strong spotlight on accessories, which also abide by the line’s gender-neutral spirit. First are the sunglasses, which are both stylish and functional, with a variety of frames and UV400 protection. The footwear selection includes retro sneakers and deck shoes, with flat shoes taking the cake for this author. Made from soft material that molds easily to the feet, the flats offer men and women alike a luxe yet relaxed footwear option for the season.

Ultimately, what makes Uniqlo: C’s spring-summer 2026 collection so compelling is not just its classic silhouettes and smart fabrics, but also the way it quietly invites everyone to dress beyond strict categories. It allows shoppers to enjoy a more dynamic retail experience, discover versatile looks, and style with intention.
