3rd Tanghal Tertulia to showcase UP's homegrown talents in honor of National Artists Cabrera, Mojares, Locsin
UP Filipiniana Dance Group - Sa Na Yon Suite (HINABI)
Homegrown talents of the University of the Philippines together with some of the country’s most esteemed artists will pay tribute to National Artists Benedicto Cabrera, Resil Mojares, and Agnes Locsin for the third offering of Tanghal Tertulia on Feb. 21, 2026.
The UP Dance Company, the UP Rondalla, and the UP Filipiniana Dance Group will join forces during the festive evening at the Executive House Amphitheater in UP Diliman with performances showcasing the country’s rich and diverse dance and soundscapes for a musical journey across Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao.
The UP Tugtugang Musika Asyatika (UP TUGMA) and the UP Diliman chapter of Paggawisan Tako Am-in (PAGTA-UPD) will perform a fusion rendition of the folk song “Salidummay,” featuring Althea Linelle Domngal, as an homage to Cabrera and his Cordilleran roots. Domngal, who is currently studying Bachelor of Music with a major in Voice Performance at the UP Diliman College of Music, is a soprano hailing from Baguio City.
Soprano Pauline Therese Arejola, an alumna of the UP Diliman College of Music, will also perform a medley of Visayan folk songs “Ay, Kalisud,” “Matud Nila,” “Pobreng Alindahaw,” and “Rosas Pandan” as a tribute to Mojares. Arejola finished Bachelor of Music major in Voice, cum laude, in 2018.
World music performer and indigenous people’s rights advocate Bayang Barrios and the KUL-Kulintangan ensemble will bring Maguindanawon music to Locsin’s distinct neo-ethnic Filipino dance choreography. The ensemble features UP Diliman College of Music faculty Maria Lourdes Cecilia Matute, Tusa Montes, Lilymae Montano, and Ginoong Jason Santiago; along with Maguindanao kulintang artist, Norodin Kalanduyan.
Tanghal Tertulia is UP’s flagship cultural program celebrating the University’s homegrown National Artists, led by the UP Office of the President in collaboration with the UP Diliman College of Music, the Philippine Association of University Women- UP Chapter (PAUW-UP), the UP President’s Committee on Culture and the Arts, UP Office of the Vice President for Public Affairs, and TVUP. It recently won the Best Special Events Production Award at the 38th Aliw Awards — the only event from a higher education institution recognized in the category.
The event is free and open to the public. However, due to limited seating capacity, attendance will be on a first-come, first-served basis. Interested attendees may RSVP through this link to ensure a smooth experience for all guests.
