A total of 336 families received new housing units as the Valenzuela City government inaugurated Phases 1 to 3 of Disiplina Village Arkong Bato in Barangay Arkong Bato on Friday, Feb. 13, as part of the city’s 28th Charter Day celebration.

Mayor Weslie “WES” Gatchalian led the ceremony and distributed Certificates of Award to qualified beneficiaries who are now the new homeowners.

“Gusto nating makilala ang Valenzuela hindi lamang bilang lugar kung saan makikita ang mga naglalakihang pabrika, kundi bilang isang livable city. Ngayon ay matutunghayan natin ang isang panibagong kasaysayan sa pag-inaugurate ng Disiplina Village Arkong Bato (We want Valenzuela to be known not only as a place with large factories, but as a livable city. Today, we witness a new chapter in the inauguration of Disiplina Village Arkong Bato),” he said.

“Gusto natin maging isang lugar na hindi lamang trabaho ang meron, kundi may pabahay, edukasyon, malakas na sistema ng gobyerno, healthcare, at peace and order para tayo ay matawag na ganap na livable city (We want to be a place that offers not only jobs, but also housing, education, strong governance, healthcare, and peace and order so we can truly be called a livable city),” Gatchalian added.

According to the city’s Public Information Office, the project has seven four-storey residential buildings with a total of 336 housing units. Construction began in March 2023.

It added that the units are allocated to fire victims and informal settler families who previously lived in high-risk areas, including waterways and beneath transmission lines.

The development was carried out with support from the National Housing Authority and the Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development.

It is the city’s fourth in-city relocation project, following similar housing programs in Ugong, Bignay, and Lingunan.

The housing complex sits on a 20,709-square-meter property along M.H. Del Pilar Street and it is accessible to public transportation and basic services.

Once fully developed, the site is expected to have 20 buildings with a total of 960 units.
