Parañaque City Mayor Edwin Olivarez said the city holds the Sunduan Festival annually as part of its cityhood anniversary celebration. The historic courtship tradition is highlighted by a colorful street pageant featuring couples dressed in traditional attire.
“Sunduan” is a romantic custom in Parañaque in which a gentleman fetches his lady at her home and escorts her to the church or town plaza.
Olivarez said the TPMO will implement temporary road closures starting from St. Andrew’s Cathedral along Quirino Avenue, passing through Tata Dune Chapel, P. Burgos Street, N.T. Garcia Street, A. Bonifacio Street, Irasan Street, Tramo, and M.H. del Pilar Street.
The road closures will take effect at 3:00 p.m. onwards.
The mayor said the festival forms part of the activities lined up for the 28th Parañaque Cityhood Anniversary.
Olivarez added that heavy traffic is expected in the affected areas during the event and advised motorists to take alternate routes to avoid inconvenience.
