METTACITY at Glorietta: Experience the new immersive entertainment hub
Glorietta has recently launched METTACITY, an entertainment hub that has repurposed former cinema boxes into high-tech playgrounds. It’s a bold move that turns the passive experience of watching a screen into an active, immersive adventure.
What is METTACITY?
Think of METTACITY as the sophisticated, tech-forward cousin of your childhood arcade, which utilizes Virtual Reality (VR), Augmented Reality (AR), and interactive sensor-based games to create a fully immersive universe.
The Main Attractions
The Repurposed "Cinema Boxes": Instead of tiered seating and popcorn buckets, these large-scale rooms now house diverse interactive zones. Each "box" offers a different digital environment, from competitive gaming to sensory experiences.
The VR Tour Room: This is the crown jewel for those who want to travel without a passport. Capacity is to six people per show, with plans for monthly rotations. Unlike home VR where you're tethered to a couch, this room is spacious enough for "free-roam" movement. Users can physically walk around the virtual environment, looking around corners and interacting with the digital landscape as if they were physically there.
Interactive Digital Games: Beyond VR, the hub features walls and floors that react to movement, allowing groups to play sports or solve puzzles using their entire bodies. There is a four-player game where users need to use their weight to make characters jump, a racing game where you need to roll the ball, a bicycle racing game where there is a diorama that features bicycles moving around tracks based on the player's speed and progression, among many others.
