Man dies after consuming snake turtle

A 47-year-old man died from allegedly eating a snake turtle in Barangay 6, Moises Padilla, Negros Occidental on Wednesday, Feb. 11. (Screengrab from MDRRMO video)

A 47-year-old man died after allegedly eating a snake turtle in Barangay 6, Moises Padilla, Negros Occidental on Wednesday, Feb. 11.
The victim experienced chest pain and difficulty breathing after consuming the reptile.
The Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (MDRRMO) administered first aid to the victim and was taken to the town’s infirmary where he was declared dead.
He was the only one who felt unwell among those who consumed the snake turtle.
The victim’s family did not disclose if he had pre-existing medical conditions.
Authorities are awaiting official medical findings.
