The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) is calling on companies to excuse employees bringing their children for measles-rubella shots and to host vaccination activities at work to safeguard children under five.
Labor Advisory No. 02-2026, issued on Feb. 9, urged firms to support the Department of Health’s Measles-Rubella Supplemental Immunization Activity (MR-SIA) by setting up temporary vaccination posts within workplaces.
The advisory also encouraged companies to deploy occupational health personnel as part of the vaccination team to ensure smooth operations and efficient coverage
DOLE said employers should allow workers to be excused for scheduled vaccinations or when caring for children experiencing post-vaccine reactions.
It added that employees may use available leave credits, subject to company policy or collective bargaining agreements.
Employers are advised to coordinate with the DOH or their local government units to schedule vaccination activities and maximize participation.
