Balladeer Aristeo Demavivas mounts Valentine show in Gateway Hotel Iloilo
Armida Zuniega and Aristeo Demavivas sing on requests at Bridges Bistro of Gateway Iloilo.
Strange enough, but yes, romantic balladeer Aristeo Demavivas wouldn't sing in a Valentine show slated at the Ballroom of the Gateway Hotel and Suites in Iloilo.
Instead, Aris will be the impresario of a colorful production of the hotel billed "Lovers Buffet" on Saturday, Valentine's Day at 7 pm.
"I am giving way to our special artist guests who are superb. I will just be in the background," quipped Aristeo, a famous singer who popularized the hit song "So Lucky in my Life," "Love Me, Love Me Again" and other adapted and original compositions.
As General Manager of Gateway, Demavivas proposed the concept of a romantic dinner with music and said he had been doing many gigs in the past.
"Our Valentine show is through the auspices of the management of Gateway Hotel. They are backing up my concept. It is one of the biggest shows the management has ever produced," said Aris, who is remembered as the voice behind the Kodak commercial singing "Good morning yesterday...," adapted from Paul Anka's "Times of Your Life."
When asked when he would return to music, Aris said he is challenged by being a hotelier.
Anyway, Aris, an Ilonggo himself, occasionally serenades hotel guests or accepts singing engagements when time permits.
Featured in the concert are Amazing Diva Armida Zuniega and jazz couple progenies Jeannie Tiongco and Henry Katindig.
Jeannie is the daughter of Emil Tiongco, one of the Tiongco Brothers, while Henry is the son of the standard jazz legend Eddie Katindig.
Iloilo’s Star Diva is also scheduled to perform. (Robert Requintina)
