111-year-old grandma gets P100,000 cash gift in Muntinlupa
Is she the oldest living person in the Philippines?
Supercentenarian Ceferina Gonzales marked her 111th birthday with a P100,000 cash gift from the Muntinlupa City government.
Mayor Ruffy Biazon personally delivered the cheque to Gonzales at her home in Barangay Ayala Alabang.
He was accompanied by personnel from the Muntinlupa Office of the Senior Citizens Affairs (OSCA).
Under Muntinlupa City Ordinance No. 2018-147, all residents who turn 100 are eligible to receive the cash gift. This is also in accordance with Republic Act 10868 (Centenarians Act of 2016), which grants cash gifts to those who turn 100.
A new ordinance, 2024-179, was passed in 2024, which listed the policies in the granting of the P100,000 cash gift to centenarians in Muntinlupa.
Under the new ordinance, a “beneficiary must be a resident of Muntinlupa for at least three (3) years in a period of five (5) years before reaching the age of One Hundred (100).”
The beneficiary must be a recipient of stipend under the Handog Kalinga Program for at least three years, and must not be a recipient of the centenarian cash benefit in other local government units providing the same program.”
