Student falls to death from LRT station in Quezon City
A male student died after allegedly falling from the Fernando Poe Jr. Station of LRT Line 1 in Quezon City on Wednesday morning, Feb. 11.
But the Light Rail Manila Corporation (LRMC), operator of LRT-1, claimed that the victim "jumped off" from the station platform to the street level of EDSA.

In a statement, the LRMC said a security and safety team responded immediately to the scene.
"Local authorities arrived shortly to take over the scene. The male individual was unfortunately pronounced dead on-site due to the impact of the fall," the LRMC statement said.
It added that the LRMC is fully cooperating with the authorities in their ongoing investigations.
"We extend our deepest sympathies to the family of the individual during this difficult time," the statement added.
Witnesses said the victim was struck and dragged by a passing vehicle after the fall. The driver reportedly stopped immediately and said he was not involved in the incident.
The victim’s parents later arrived at the scene.
According to his father, the student was about to graduate and had no academic problems. He added that he had spoken with his son earlier and that the victim was the one who opened the gate for him before the incident.
The Quezon City Police District (QCPD) is now investigating the incident.
The LRMC assured the commuting public that LRT-1 operations were not affected by the incident and remained fully operational.
"We remain steadfast in our commitment to providing safe and reliable transportation. We appeal to the riding public to strictly follow all safety rules and regulations implemented within LRT-1 premises," it added.
