BACOLOD CITY – The Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office created a Special Investigation Task Group (SITG) on Tuesday, Feb. 10, to thoroughly probe the attack on three siblings in Barangay E. Lopez, Silay City, Negros Occidental on Feb. 7.
Police Col. Dennis Wenceslao, Negros Occidental police director, leads the SITG supervised by Police Col. Lito Patay, deputy regional director for operations of Police Regional Office-Negros Island Region (PRO-NIR).
Police Capt. Judesses Catalogo, Negros Occidental police spokesperson, said that some witnesses have appeared but they only provided circumstantial evidence.
Authorities have persons of interest but Catalogo said that they need more evidence for a strong case buildup.
Police have yet to talk to the two survivors due to their current condition. Catalogo said that their statements are vital in their investigation. He noted that their statements would enable them to establish strong evidence against the suspect.
He added that the Prosecutor’s Office and Nocppo legal team are helping them with the case. “We’re hoping to solve this as soon as possible,” Catalogo said.
