DAGUPAN CITY – The Region 1 Medical Center (R1MC) mourned the passing of former House Speaker Jose de Venecia Jr. on Tuesday, Feb. 10.
Hospital officials said De Venecia’s dedication to public service has left a profound impact on communities and institutions across the Philippines.
They thanked De Venecia for his pivotal role in the continued development of the R1MC here.
According to them, De Venecia supported the significant expansion of hospital facilities, the introduction of broader healthcare services, and the enhancement of patient care programs.
These ensured that thousands of families in Region 1 (Ilocos) and even nearby regions could access timely, quality medical attention, they said.
"Speaker De Venecia’s vision and commitment to public service have been instrumental in shaping the growth of Region 1 Medical Center. His advocacy not only strengthened our facilities but also inspired our team to pursue excellence in healthcare delivery for our community," R1MC chief Dr. Joseph Roland O. Mejia said.
De Venecia’s wake will be held in Taguig City, Dagupan City, and the House of Representatives.
Interment will be announced later.
“Jose de Venecia Jr. dedicated his life to serving the Filipino people,” said Pangasinan local officials. “His legacy will continue to inspire generations of leaders and citizens alike.”
Manaoag, Pangasinan Mayor Ming Rosario honored De Venecia and described him as not only as his wedding godfather but also as a second father in life and leadership.
