CAMP VICENTE LIM, Laguna – The Police Regional Office 4-A
has disarmed 10 policemen who allegedly illegally arrested and extorted money from a working student in Angono, Rizal.
PRO 4-A chief Police Brig. Gen. Paul Kenneth Lucas said they were placed under restrictive custody at the Administrative Holding Section of the Rizal Police Provincial Office as the National Police Commission is investigating the incident.
Lucas said they will conduct their own parallel internal investigation to determine the accountability of those involved and ensure that due process is strictly observed.
“These actions are without prejudice to the filing of appropriate administrative and criminal charges, should the evidence so warrant,” Lucas said.
“Rest assured that PRO-Calabarzon, particularly the Rizal Provincial Police Office, will fully support and cooperate with the investigation being conducted by the Napolcom,” Lucas added.
“We are committed to transparency and truth, and we will not tolerate any form of misconduct, abuse of authority, or actions that undermine public trust in the Philippine National Police.”
