The city government of Parañaque is strengthening its efforts to guard against the threat of rabies and other animal-related health risks with the upcoming opening of the Animal Bite Treatment Center (ABTC) Main Hub in Barangay San Isidro.
Parañaque City Mayor Edwin Olivarez said that with the growing number of pet or “fur” parents in the city, the city government remains vigilant in monitoring and addressing rabies cases.
Olivarez emphasized that as pet ownership continues to rise, there is a need to further intensify public health measures to ensure community safety.
The city government has also noted an increase in reported animal bite cases, describing it as an important public health concern that is being addressed proactively and effectively.
Health officials are closely coordinating with barangays to ensure immediate response, proper treatment, and sustained information campaigns on rabies prevention.
The mayor said the Animal Bite Treatment Center (ABTC) Main Hub aims to provide faster, more accessible, and comprehensive treatment for animal bite victims, including anti-rabies vaccination and medical consultations.
Olivarez added that the establishment of the main hub underscores the city’s commitment to protecting both residents and their beloved pets, ensuring that Parañaque remains a safe and rabies-aware community.
