There is no truth to claims that President Marcos had direct knowledge of the kickback scheme in the country's flood control projects, Malacañang said.
The allegations, Palace Press Officer and Communications Undersecretary Claire Castro said, are no longer new, especially from people who only wants to oust the President.
Ang ibinabato sa kanya ngayon ay walang katotohanan (It is no longer new that intrigues against the President come from people who want to oust him from office. The accusations being thrown at him now are baseless)," Castro said in a text message to reporters on Wednesday, Feb. 11.
Castro shrugged off the accusation, saying the Chief Executive is now focusing on issues concerning the economy.
At present, the President is focused on economic issues. The investigation into the flood control projects is being left by the President to the investigating bodies and the courts)," Castro said.
On Tuesday, Marcos impeachment was officially dismissed with an overwhelming 284-majority vote during the plenary session.
According to Castro, the President was pleased with the proceedings, which, he said, reflected that members of the House of Representatives believed in the truth.
The President is pleased with the proceedings in the House of Representatives. He is glad that 284 members of the House of Representatives believed in the truth and decided to dismiss the impeachment complaints against him)," Castro said on Tuesday night.
