A temporary one-way traffic scheme took effect on Galicia Street in Sampaloc, Manila as the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) began the construction of a reinforced concrete box culvert on Wednesday, Feb. 11.
The project will be carried out along the westbound lane of Galicia Street, covering the stretch from Loyola Street to España Street.
To manage traffic flow during construction, authorities implemented a one-way traffic scheme on the eastbound lane to ease congestion in the area.
Motorists coming from España Street are advised to take alternative routes. These include P. Campa, Tolentino, P. Noval, Moret, M.F. Jhocson, or Cayco Streets.
The DPWH said the project is expected to be completed by May 25, 2026.
The department said the initiative is part of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s directive to improve road safety, enhance traffic flow, and prevent flooding along the busy corridor.
