BACOLOD CITY – The mother of the three children who were brutally attacked in Barangay E. Lopez, Silay City, Negros Occidental on Feb. 7, is calling for justice.
Ronelyn, an overseas Filipino worker (OFW) who was recently repatriated from Saudi Arabia, expressed her sentiments about the tragic incident in a Facebook post.
“Maski mag 100 pa guro ang witnesses niyo, wala man gihapon hustisya ang mga bata ko. Ga pakig-away sa kamatayon, samtang ang criminal gapangalipay (Even if you have maybe 100 witnesses, my children still won’t get justice. They are fighting for their lives, while the criminal is out there enjoying himself),” she said.
Ronelyn said her nine-year-old daughter, who was killed in the attack, was the most understanding among her three children.
She shared a video of her daughter dancing and recalled her dream of becoming a nurse.
"Sakit-sakit gid batunon nga wala ka na. Palangga-palangga ta gid ka (It hurts so much to accept that you’re gone. I love you so, so much),” she said.
She prayed for the recovery of her two other children – a 14-year-old girl, who wants to be a flight attendant, and her four-year-old son.
Ronelyn said that a joyful homecoming turned into overwhelming grief after losing one of her children.
She vowed to stay strong and keep fighting despite the immense pain. "Lord, buligi ko daw ga blanko man ko subong (Lord, please help me, I feel like my mind is going blank right now),” she said.
The victims’ father is calling for the suspect’s immediate arrest and expressed deep anger over the heartbreaking incident.
Police said that they have persons of interest, but statements from witnesses are considered only circumstantial evidence, and stressed the need for more solid evidence for a strong case build up.
Authorities noted that statements from the two surviving children are vital in the investigation.
