The Southern Police District arrested a 43-year-old man during a buy-bust operation against illegal firearms in Taguig on Feb. 11.
The operation was conducted at about 2:30 a.m. on Reposar Street, Barangay Upper Bicutan by personnel from the District Special Operations Unit in coordination with the District Intelligence Division, District Mobile Force Battalion, and the Taguig police.
The suspect, identified as alias Elmer, sold a .45-caliber pistol with a defaced serial number to an undercover operative.
Police also confiscated a magazine for a .45-caliber pistol, and a genuine P1,000 bill used as marked money placed over boodle money.
The SPD said the suspect was previously arrested for homicide and theft. They are verifying his possible involvement in other criminal activities in Metro Manila.
Charges for violation of Republic Act No. 10591 (Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act) were filed against the suspect, who is under police custody. The firearm was forwarded to the SPD Forensic Unit for ballistics examination.
