TANAUAN CITY, Batangas – The body of a 32-year-old farmer with multiple bullet wounds was found in this city on Tuesday night, Feb. 10.
Police identified the victim as Welvin.
His body was discovered by an individual in Barangay Ambulong.
Welvin had a bloodied head and his helmet and motorcycle were found nearby.
Police recovered two fired cartridge cases in the crime scene.
A follow-up investigation is ongoing.
Meanwhile, the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) recovered smuggled cigarettes valued at P108,000 at the Port of Real in Barangay Ungos, Real, Quezon on Tuesday.
Authorities noticed suspicious unattended packages aboard a vessel bound for Polillo Island.
Repeated announcements were made to identify the owner but no individual claimed the packages.
An inspection was conducted and 180 reams of undocumented cigarettes were discovered.
The contraband will be turned over to the Bureau of Customs for proper disposition and further investigation.
