Authorities are hunting down three suspects in the killing of a 20-year-old working student during an attempted robbery in Rodriguez, Rizal on Sunday, Feb. 8.
Based on the investigation of the Rodriguez Municipal Police Station, the victim, identified as “Jade,” and his female co-worker were walking along Kasiglahan Village in Barangay San Jose at around 1:30 a.m.
In a Facebook post, the victim’s sister shared that before Jade and his co-worker started walking, they were riding a tricycle heading to the co-worker’s house. She claimed the tricycle was a colorum, but with no other available rides, her brother and his co-worker took it.
However, upon reaching the area, the sister said the tricycle driver reportedly asked the two to get off since they were only his passengers and their destination was far. The victim and his co-worker reportedly got off and walked, despite it being dark.
Authorities said that while walking, three unidentified persons, who were allegedly fixing a motorcycle, suddenly approached them and asked to borrow a flashlight.
After a moment, police said one of the suspects suddenly grabbed the woman’s bag. The victim managed to retrieve it, and the two immediately ran to escape.
However, they later discovered that Jade had been stabbed by one of the suspects.
He was immediately brought to the hospital but was declared dead on arrival.
Authorities are now conducting follow-up operations to identify and locate the suspects.
