A 15-year-old boy was killed after being stabbed by another minor during an altercation in the Baseco Compound, Port Area, Manila on Monday evening, Feb. 9, February 9, police said.
The victim, identified only as JCSR, a student and resident of Barangay 649, Baseco Compound, was pronounced dead at the Gat Andres Bonifacio Memorial Medical Center at around 7:20 p.m., according to the Manila Police District (MPD).
Police identified the suspect as KAM, 16, also a student and resident of the same barangay.
The suspect is classified as a child in conflict with the law (CICL).
Based on the initial investigation of the Baseco Police Station (PS-13), the incident occurred at around 7 p.m. along Block-5 Extension, Barangay 649, following a fistfight between the victim and the suspect.
During the altercation, police said the suspect allegedly pulled out a Swiss knife and stabbed the victim twice on the left side of the body, before fleeing the scene.
The victim’s grandmother, 62, reported the incident to police at around 7:30 p.m., prompting responding officers and personnel from the Women and Children’s Concern Section (WCCS) to proceed to the hospital, while a follow-up operation was launched to locate the suspect.
Authorities said the reason for the argument between the two minors has not been confirmed.
At around 8 p.m., police officers led by Cpt. Leonardo B. Blanco Jr. brought in the suspect, who was found in possession of the bladed weapon allegedly used in the stabbing.
The MPD Homicide Section has taken cognizance of the case, with further investigation underway.
