The reward for the arrest of the suspect in the attack on three siblings in Silay City, Negros Occidental has increased to P100,000.
The city government of Silay is giving P25,000 reward, with an additional P50,000 from Negros Occidental third district Rep. Javier Miguel Benitez.
Former Vice Mayor Sam Siote of Talisay City, Negros Occidental pledged P25,000.
Silay City Mayor Joedith Gallego said on Monday that a concerned citizen gave P60,000 assistance to the victims’ family.
Gallego welcomed those who want to help the family.
Negros Occidental Gov. Eugenio Jose Lacson said the reward is enough and they want to focus more on helping the family especially since the mother of the victims is an overseas Filipino worker (OFW) who arrived home over the weekend.
"The suspect has been identified. Whatever has been raised is enough," the governor said.
The Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) on Tuesday, Feb. 10, extended support to the family, in coordination with the local government.
The department repatriated the victim’s mother, who was working in Saudi Arabia.
Gallego welcomed OWWA Administrator Patricia Yvonne Caunan in Silay City, after which she met the governor at the Provincial Capitol here for a courtesy call.
Police Capt. Judesses Catalogo, spokesperson of the Negros Occidental police, said the two survivors - aged 14 and four - are now in stable condition.
The older victim underwent surgery.
The wake of their nine-year-old sibling will be held at their residence on Tuesday.
