Over P240K smuggled cigarettes confiscated in 4 Cavite towns
CAVITE – Authorities confiscated more than P240,000 worth of smuggled cigarettes in Silang, Alfonso, Naic, and Maragondon on Monday, Feb. 9.
The operations were conducted by the Provincial Intelligence Unit of the Cavite Provincial Police Office, in coordination with the Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR).
In Silang, authorities conducted an operation at a store in the Silang Market in Barangay Poblacion 4.
A report from the Police Regional Office 4A said the total amount of seized contraband was P222,350.
A separate operation in Alfonso, meanwhile, targeted a store in Barangay Luksuhin, which yielded P12,060 worth of smuggled cigarettes.
Two additional operations were conducted in Naic and Maragondon, resulting in the confiscation of contraband valued at P7,358 and P845, respectively.
The operations were carried out in connection with violations of the Customs Modernization and Tariff Act and the National Internal Revenue Code, particularly the unlawful possession and sale of untaxed tobacco products.
