President Marcos has congratulated Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi on her historic electoral win.
In a social media post on Tuesday, Feb. 10, Marcos congratulated the Prime Minister for the victory of her Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) in a snap election held on Feb. 8.
“A landslide victory and a powerful mandate from the Japanese people. Congratulations to Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi on this historic win," Marcos said in his statement.
Marcos reaffirmed Japan’s role as a close friend and trusted partner of the Philippines, adding its leadership plays a vital role in the region.
The President also expressed that he looks forward to working closely with Japan’s leadership to further strengthen cooperation and regional partnership.
“As ASEAN (Association of Southeast Asian Nations) Chair, we look forward to working closely with your government to strengthen our partnership and move forward together in advancing stability, cooperation, and shared growth across the Indo-Pacific,” Marcos said.
