The Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) issued a show cause order against a bus company after one of its drivers was monitored to have engaged in a dangerous maneuver on a delivery truck along an expressway.
LTFRB Chairperson Vigor D. Mendoza II said he personally saw the video uploaded and said the behavior of the bus driver was unacceptable when it drove the bus too close to the truck.
“I saw the video and there is clearly a violation on the part of the bus driver. We are now investigating to determine if the bus was carrying passengers at the time of the incident,” said Mendoza.
He said the LTFRB is now coordinating with the netizen who uploaded the video on his Facebook account that was monitored by the LTFRB social media monitoring team for more details of the incident.
In the video, a passenger bus was seen making a dangerous maneuver against the truck along what appears to be an expressway. The truck driver did not respond as the bus sped off.
The video served as the basis for the LTFRB to identify the bus ownership and subsequent issuance of the SCO against the Victory Liner, Inc which was tasked to identify and bring the driver involved in the hearing scheduled on Feb. 25.
Mendoza said the behavior of the bus driver is not acceptable and will be subjected to investigation as part of the protocol for due process wherein the driver will be given the chance to explain the reason behind the reckless driving.
He said both the bus company and the bus driver were tasked to submit a written explanation as to why they should not be held liable over the incident.
Mendoza urged bus companies to police their own ranks as he reminded them that lives of the passengers and other road users are always at risk in cases of road rage and other road misbehaviors.
