The Cool Smashers notched their first win in two games, while the Flying Titans took a double hit, dropping their second match in three outings and losing prized recruit Eya Laure in the fourth set due to injury.
Laure hurt her right thigh after diving for the ball while Choco Mucho trailed 4-9 in the fourth set. The hard-hitting spiker was helped off the court and didn’t return, though she led the Flying Titans with 19 points in the loss.
Creamline, meanwhile, banked on four players in securing the win, with Bernadeth Pons firing 19 points on 17 kills and two aces, and Pangs Panaga adding 12 points highlighted by four blocks and three aces.
Tots Carlos and Jema Galanza contributed 11 points apiece.
As expected, Jia De Guzman proved instrumental by delivering 20 excellent sets, outshining Deanna Wong for Choco Mucho, who managed only nine of the team’s 12 excellent sets.
Sisi Rondina fired 15 points, and Lorraine Pecana scored 10, but their efforts weren’t enough as the Flying Titans slipped to 1-2.
