- Instead of simply ignoring it like most A-listers would, Bela actually took the time to explain her side to a fan critical of her work.
Bela Padilla recently found herself responding to a netizen who openly critiqued her choice of roles, saying her projects felt repetitive.
The fan commented, “It’s still same same plot and whatnot. Nothing new… Try to gumawa ng ibang genre… Explore and try new materials.”
Now, instead of ignoring it like most A-listers would, Bela actually took the time to explain her side — and rather calmly, might we add.
“No problem not everyone would go to a theater for festival films like Mañanita or iAmerica. Or try to understand a series like Mea Culpa.” she wrote, surreptitiously reminding the commenter the titles of some of her more unconventional projects.
She admitted that many of her recent films revolve around love, but emphasized there’s still range in her work, maintaining “I’ve made sure that the performances vary.”
And just in case people think actors simply pick whatever role they want, Bela dropped a reality check — with humor.
“I think we’re also forgetting that I’m HIRED to work on these projects too. The audience dictate what we work on.”
She added that producers naturally invest in what viewers keep watching: “Until our audience keeps watching the same thing, our producers will put money on the same things too...”
Still, Bela kept things classy and appreciative, even thanking the critic: “Thank you for the feedback! I will take note.”
In another post, she summed up her creative philosophy with a tasty metaphor: “At the end of the day, I cook what I want to eat… But I’m also not gonna start creating things I don’t want to, just to make the people eating off of my plate happy.”
