Police Col. Eugene Rebadomia is the new Bacolod City Police Office chief.
He replaced Police Col. Joeresty Coronica during a turnover of command ceremony at the BCPO multi-purpose gymnasium presided over by Police Brig. Gen. Arnold Thomas Ibay, director of the Police Regional Office-Negros Island Region (PRO-NIR) on Monday, Feb. 9.
Mayor Greg Gasataya called on Rebadomia to sustain and intensify the government and Philippine National Police (PNP) campaign against illegal drugs.
Gasataya said that criminality often stems from illegal drugs and stressed the need for law enforcers to step their anti-drug efforts.
He said Rebadomia, a resident of Barangay Mansilingan here, was chosen from five nominees for the post following Coronica’s one year and six months of service which ended due to career enhancement.
The mayor emphasized that the next BCPO head should be familiar with the city, as this knowledge will help him make informed decisions and drive improvements. "It's an advantage that he knows the terrain and culture of Bacolod," Gasataya said.
Rebadomia served at the Regional Operations Division of PRO-NIR. Coronica, also a resident of this city, was transferred to the PRO-NIR headquarters.
Ibay challenged Rebadomia to build on existing gains, reinforce policies, to lead with integrity and sound judgment, and ensure that discipline and professionalism guide every police action.
Ibay urged him to enhance coordination with the local government and stakeholders, take care of police personnel, and ensure a strong police presence in the community.
Rebadomia thanked Gasataya and Ibay for the opportunity to lead the city police force and thanked Coronica for his confidence and support.
Rebadomia met the 10 station commanders to discuss his directives, including maintaining cleanliness in police stations, monitoring the activities of the personnel, and ensuring their anti-criminality campaign.
Ibay and Gasataya thanked Coronica for his contributions to peace and order in the city.
The PRO-NIR awarded Coronica the PNP Special Service Medal in recognition of his professionalism and dedication as BCPO director from Aug. 27, 2024 to Feb. 8, 2026.
In his farewell message, Coronica thanked those who supported his tenure, noting that their cooperation enabled the effective implementation of law enforcement operations, crime prevention strategies, and community-based policing programs that helped enhance public safety in this highly-urbanized city.
