A newborn baby girl was found dead, floating in a creek in Malolos, Bulacan on Saturday, Feb. 7.
City Police Chief Lt. Col. Rommel Geneblazo, said a concerned citizen reported to the city police station through a phone call that a dead baby was found floating in a river canal in Barangay Caingin.
The police immediately went to the creek and found the lifeless baby floating, with the placenta and umbilical cord still attached.
The Malolos Police contacted the City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO)and the Barangay Health Worker (BHW) to check records of all pregnant women in 51 villages in the city.
The record check aims to identify the baby's mother and hold her accountable under the law.
He said dumping or abandoning a baby is against the law and carries a heavy penalty.
