Mayor Isko orders probe on viral Intramuros guards vs teenager fistfight video
Manila Mayor Francisco "Isko Moreno" Domagoso ordered an immediate investigation into the now-viral video of a fistfight between two Intramuros Administration security guards and a 17-year-old teenage boy at the Riverside Plaza Mexico Esplanade in Intramuros, Manila, on Sunday night, Feb. 8.
Domagoso made the directive during the 29th City Government Directional Meeting on Monday, Feb. 9, where he tasked Manila Department of Social Welfare and Development (MDSWD) Director Jay Dela Fuente and Manila Police District (MPD) district directorial staff chief Col. Dyan Agustin to launch a full-scale probe into the incident.
He also ordered the filing of charges against the two security guards for the physical injuries sustained by the teenage boy, who is still currently admitted at the hospital.
"I am ordering a full-scale investigation into the abuse of those guards. Uulitin ko, guards should be guarding property. They're not allowed from policing the streets. Even when they go to the Philippine National Police (PNP) to get their license, they are not allowed to police the streets. Streets, alleys, boulevards, or any public places are under the PNP for peace and order situations. 'Yun ang direktiba nila. Hindi natin puwede payagan yung mga guwardya na ganyan (That's their assigned directive. We cannot allow security guards to act like this)," Domagoso said.
"If this will go unpunished or not attended to, then there will be chaos in our streets," he added.
