Ford Philippines has reissued its service program for vehicles equipped with potentially defective Takata airbags, urging owners of affected models to visit an authorized Ford dealership for inspection and repair. The company said the initiative is part of its continuing efforts to improve vehicle safety and to remind customers who may not yet have responded to earlier recall notices.
According to Ford Philippines, the inspection and replacement process is offered free of charge to owners whose vehicles are confirmed to be part of the Takata airbag recall. The renewed advisory targets vehicles that remain in use, particularly older units that may have changed ownership or are no longer regularly serviced at Ford dealerships.
Affected vehicles include selected production years of the Ford Ranger, Ford Everest, and Ford Mustang. Specific models cited by the company include the Ranger produced between 2004 and 2011, and the Everest built from 2006 to 2014, both of which may be fitted with Takata driver, passenger, or side airbags depending on the variant. The Ford Mustang models produced from 2010 to 2014 are also covered, with certain units requiring replacement of either the passenger airbag or driver airbag inflator module.
Ford Philippines emphasized that Takata airbags subject to recall may deteriorate over time, especially in hot and humid environments, potentially increasing the risk of airbag rupture during deployment. The company reiterated that addressing the issue promptly is essential to reduce safety risks for vehicle occupants.
Owners are advised to first verify whether their vehicle is affected by checking the vehicle identification number through Ford Philippines’ dedicated Takata airbag recall page. Once confirmed, owners can schedule an appointment with their preferred Ford dealership through the company’s online service booking system or by contacting the dealer’s service department directly.
For added convenience, Ford said inspections and repairs may also be carried out through its Mobile Service Vehicle program, which is available at select dealerships. If a defective airbag inflator is found, the replacement is performed at no cost to the customer. Ford Philippines estimates that the repair process typically takes between two and three hours to complete.
The company noted that it has already replaced a significant number of Takata airbag inflators in previous years. The reissued campaign is intended to encourage remaining owners of affected vehicles to take action, particularly those who may have missed earlier recall notices or acquired their vehicles through the secondary market.
Ford Philippines said it will continue to use its official website and social media channels to disseminate recall information and encourage owners to prioritize safety-related repairs. Customers seeking further details are advised to contact Ford Philippines directly or coordinate with their nearest authorized Ford dealership.
