CAFGU member shot dead in Ilocos Sur

MAGSINGAL, Ilocos Sur – A member of the Citizen Armed Force Geographical Unit (CAFGU) was gunned down in Barangay Panay Norte here on Sunday night.
Police identified the victim as Dennis Andres Rodriguez, 45, assigned to the CAA patrol base in Muraya, San Juan, Ilocos Sur under the 50th Infantry Battalion, 5th Infantry Division.
He was also working as a tricycle driver and a resident of Barangay Puerta Real, Santo Domingo, Ilocos Sur.
Investigation said Rodriguez had just dropped off a passenger when a man appeared and shot him. Rodriguez sustained multiple bullet wounds.
The suspect boarded a motorcycle driven by companion and fled north. Rodriguez was taken to a hospital where he was declared dead.
Police recovered five empty .45 caliber pistol shells in the crime scene.
Follow-up investigation is ongoing.
