At least four major roads in Mindanao remain closed or under limited access after Tropical Cyclone “Basyang” caused widespread damage, the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) said Monday, Feb. 9.
DPWH Secretary Vince Dizon has ordered Quick Response Teams to fast-track clearing and restoration works in Regions 10 and 13 to ensure public safety and support ongoing relief operations.
Roads still closed to traffic include the Lanao del Norte Interior Circumferential Road at Panuliran Bridge, K1531+528 in Barangay Abuno, Iligan City, following the collapse of the bridge.
Intermittent sections of the Surigao–Davao Coastal Road in Barangays Nurcia and Sibahay in Lanuza, and Barangay Burgos in Cortes, Surigao del Sur, also remain closed due to soil collapse, landslides, and road slips.
Motorists were advised to avoid road sections under limited access, particularly the Tambacan Road–Tubod National Highway Junction at Mariano Lluch Badelles Sr. Bridge in Barangay Tambacan, Iligan City.
The area is currently passable only to light vehicles as flooding persists while DPWH crews continue clearing operations.
Restricted access also remains along the Sta. Felomina–Bonbonon–Digkilaan–Rogongon Road, specifically in Barangays Digkilaan and Bonbonon in Iligan City.
Landslides and fallen trees have limited passage to light vehicles as DPWH crews carry out clearing activities.
