Man hurt after being shot by homeowner during robbery in Antipolo
A man was injured after being shot by the homeowner whose house he was allegedly robbing in Antipolo, Rizal on Friday, Feb. 6.
The Antipolo City Component Police Station (Antipolo CCPS) said the incident occurred at the homeowner's house in Barangay Bagong Nayon at around 12:50 a.m.
Based on the investigation, the suspect, identified as “Jaylord,” entered the homeowner’s residence and was in the act of stealing items when the victim discovered him.
The victim then confronted the suspect and suddenly fired his firearm several times, hitting him.
The suspect was brought to the nearest hospital after sustaining a gunshot wound in his body.
Police said three fired cartridge cases were recovered at the scene, along with the firearm allegedly used by the victim. The stolen wire, approximately 30 meters of 10-mm wire valued at around P5,500, was also recovered from the suspect.
The suspect is now in police custody and is facing robbery charges, while the victim has also been arrested for frustrated homicide.
Authorities said further investigation is ongoing to determine the circumstances surrounding the shooting, including the legality of the firearm’s use.
