TAGUM CITY, Davao del Norte – The Government Service Insurance System (GSIS) held a stakeholders’ dialogue here on Wednesday to hear directly from GSIS members, pensioners, and local government partners on how to make transactions faster, simpler, and more responsive, and to turn feedback into specific service improvements.
“We came to Tagum with one clear purpose: To listen to you, and to learn from you,” GSIS President and General Manager Wick Veloso said. “We want to serve you better, and we can only do that if you tell us, plainly and specifically, where we are helping and where we are falling short.”
Veloso said the GSIS is prioritizing simpler processes, clearer communication, and more responsive channels, including digital services through the GSIS Touch mobile app and system upgrades.
“Your pension fund is already 99.6 percent digitalized,” he said. “But we are open to your suggestions to make it more responsive to you.”
He also underscored GSIS’ role in safeguarding government properties to enable public services to continue during disasters and accidents. He cited housing support for government workers, saying the GSIS has 47 available properties in Davao del Sur, including Tagum, and 12 units in Davao del Norte, including Davao City. Veloso said GSIS no longer requires a down payment for qualified buyers.
As part of the visit, the GSIS turned over a P400,000
technology package under its Adopt-a-School Program to Sambolungan Elementary School in Sitio Sambolungan, Davao del Norte, and Manasa Elementary School in Barangay Anitapan, Davao de Oro.
“We are with you every step of the way,” Veloso said during the turnover. “Devices and power matter. Connectivity matters, too.”
DepEd schools divisions in Davao de Oro and Davao del Norte presented certificates of appreciation to GSIS for the Adopt-a-School Program, accepted by Veloso.
GSIS also received four awards from local government units for promoting stability in local governance and safeguarding public assets, it said.
Veloso capped the visit with a press conference with Tagum-based media, answering questions on GSIS programs and priorities.
