CEBU CITY – A major infrastructure project in Bohol received a major boost following the visit of a top French government official in the province.
Gov. Aris Aumentado welcomed French Embassy Director Marc Raynal on Friday, Feb. 6, ahead of the assessment of the proposed Third Tagbilaran-Panglao Island Bridge.
Aumentado thanked Raynal for the visit as the French government is financing the Panglao-Tagbilaran City Offshore Bridge Connector (PTCOBC), a 1.03-kilometer, four-lane cable-stayed bridge modeled after the Cebu-Cordova Link Expressway.
“We had a fruitful meeting regarding the final assessment and inspection so that we will be given the funding for the completion of the bridge,” said Aumentado.
The governor said the province reached an agreement with the French government last year for the completion of the bridge’s construction.
The bridge is envisioned to ease congestion between Tagbilaran City and Panglao Island, improve airport-to-city traffic flow, and support the efficient movement of passengers and goods.
“We are happy with the positive feedback of Mr. Marc Raynal. He didn’t see any obstacles or problems that may delay the completion of the project,” said Aumentado.
Aumentado assured the province’s continued cooperation with the French government. “We are always ready to coordinate with the French government for our continued partnership and more support for the progress of the province,” Aumentado said.
