The cohort of a suspect arrested in a viral truck theft incident in Tondo has surrendered to authorities, police said on Thursday, Feb. 5.
Chris Adriano, alias “Jumong,” 18, voluntarily went to the Don Bosco Police Station a day after police issued a public appeal for him to come forward. Adriano was identified as the alleged accomplice of Ramil Fernandez, alias “Boy Paldo,” who was previously arrested in connection with the incident.
The two were implicated in a viral video showing the alleged theft of copper materials from a truck along Capulong Street in Tondo.
Authorities said Adriano surrendered amid ongoing coordination with the truck driver or owner, who has yet to decide whether to file formal charges against him.
Pending the complainant’s decision, police said Adriano was temporarily released to his family to ease the concerns of his parents, while authorities continue to monitor the case.
Police reiterated their zero-tolerance stance against criminal activity in the city, while also noting that opportunities for reform remain open for individuals who voluntarily submit themselves to authorities.
The earlier arrest of Fernandez and the subsequent surrender of Adriano were part of intensified police operations in Tondo following the circulation of the video on social media.
