CAMP MARCELO A. ADDURU, Tuguegarao City, Cagayan – Police arrested a 67-year-old man for allegedly raping his granddaughter 105 times in Allacapan, this province.
The suspect, tagged as the No. 3 most wanted person in the Cagayan Valley region, was apprehended on warrants for 105 counts of rape, 105 counts of sexual assault, and three counts of acts of lasciviousness.
Police said the victim was 12 when the cases were filed.
Investigation said that the suspect started raping the victim when she was seven in 2020.
The victim lived in the same house with the suspect and her grandmother. Her parents have their own families and working in distant towns.
Due to fear, the victim was unable to disclose the abuse for a long period. The victim eventually mustered the courage to inform her mother through chat, prompting her father to immediately file a complaint against the suspect.
Police Regional Office-2 Director Police Brig. Gen. Antonio P. Marallag Jr. commended police personnel for the successful arrest.
“This successful arrest is proof of the relentless dedication of our police force in pursuing wanted individuals, especially in cases such as rape. This is in line with the administration’s directive to strengthen the campaign against criminality, ensure justice for victims, and maintain peace and order in our communities,” Marallag said.
